So, I've recently been going on this kick of watching movies via downloading them from the internetz. The hard part has actually been deciding what to download. This is odd because I know there are so many movies I want to see, but when I'm downloading them, nothing comes to mind. I think it's because I am bad at figuring stuff out on the fly or off the top of my head. Sadly, I am also bad at making lists and knowing what to do in the future. So, in theory, no movies should ever get downloaded but I somehow beat my own odds. Aaaaaaaanyways. Here are some "flicks" I have "caught" and also what I thought about them.
Slumdog Millionare - Yes, I put this first because it features my homeland. In saying this, I am proud to say that it is a rather accurate representation of India (or at least the impoverished areas). I have talked to some people who thought it negatively represented our country, but I think it did it justice. Firstly, I thought this movie was really cool for a few reasons. Number one, the acting was pretty good and I never felt like I was watching some UK brought up teen Indian kid forcing himself to play his character. Number two, I thought the shots were really cool and also liked the idea of the constant flashbacks. Over all, really good movie. Best film? Eh, maybe. I give it a 9/10.
The Wrestler - So, this movie was hard to evaluate for me because I watched half of it one day and then a fourth the next day, and the last fourth a few hours later. This makes it hard to take it all in cohesively as it was meant to be absorbed. Nonetheless, I thought it was pretty good. The acting is SUPERB. I really feel like Mickey Rourke WAS "The Ram". He does such a good job portraying that washed up, emotionally unstable, former celebrity. The movie also does a good job of showing what the world of wrestling is really like which was neat. Evan Rachel Wood is hot. Umm...what else...Marisa Tomei is naked a lot of the film, that was sweet. But, overall, good movie, fantastic acting. I give it an 8.5/10.
Changeling - This movie, I JUST finished watching. Seriously, maybe about 7 minutes ago. It was really quite good. It is exactly what you probably would expect after reading reviews and or plot summaries. I like this movie because it pissed me off...a lot. You know a movie is good when it can evoke a certain emotion towards a character. Don't confuse this anger with the kind you probably felt after seeing the Happening. That anger arose because the movie was the worst film ever written and happened to have the worst acting I've seen in a while. This emotion I am talking about is different. I was MAD at the cops in the movie for being so ignorant and unemotional. It gos to show that the writers and director (Clint Eastwood) did a good job of developing those characters. I felt a little sad when Angelina's character is repeatedly ignored and she can do nothing about it at the beginning. Later, i felt empowered by her fight with the police and legal system. A whole array of emotions. Good stuff. I give it a 9/10.
There are a few more movies, but at the moment I think I'm going to give it a rest. One, because I am tired of typing and two, no one reads this blog. Bye, now.
